Vision

The vision is to create a more enlightened world informed by the Buddhist philosophical and theoretical bases from which mindfulness practices originated.

Mission

The mission of the Illumination of Mindfulness (Satibrahā) Institute is to impart knowledge of early Buddhism in the service of mental health, wellbeing, and personal growth and development.

Our Core Values

We acknowledge and respect the origins of the Buddhist teachings as the central theory of meditation and mindfulness.

We are committed to the teaching of early Buddhism.

We endeavor to deepen our understanding of Buddhism by applying it in our lives and practices.

We are dedicated to the cessation of suffering

We’re An institute founded by experts in mindfulness and buddhist philosophy

The Institute is a non-religious scholarly and training entity within Alliant offering studies in Buddhism and Buddhist Psychotherapy.

It is an accessible center of the main teachings of early Buddhism. Areas of knowledge include the philosophical culture in which Buddhism originated; its relationship to other religious systems of the East; the evolution of the early Buddhist ascetic practice, through the many sects of Buddhism to the current major schools of Buddhism. Additionally, an innovation that is based in U.S. interest, the Institute can be an educational, research and training hub for the development of Buddhist Psychotherapy.

Courses designed to help reduce suffering

We offer a variety of learning options including– but not limited to– academic courses, master lecture series, retreats, and continuing education workshops. View our offerings page for more information.
